Private Singing Class

Emotions are the powerhouse where voice and singing are concerned, and breath is the vehicle. Our personal association with our voice has a history of a lifetime.

The teacher was very passionate about her singing, which she says is really a journey inward, into being fully present in the body, in the moment; a way of accessing depths of intimacy and honesty that assist the opening to our essence. "Singing allows me to stand in my depth, my passsion and my heart, which I don’t always have the courage to do in daily life."

We spoke a bit about my history, the windows and glasses I’ve had to replace after singing in the shower, all of it, and she reassured me she was insured, and to relax. The fact that I now have fully functioning eardrums, after years of holes, set her at ease somewhat. We danced, to wake up, and some stretching for grounding. Then she got me to do some breathing exercises with effort, to feel that, and others to open throat and chest. She then had matching the sounds she made, which I did eventually, after listening in an unfamiliar way. I found her to be great, right there.

Toning was next, which I found gorgeous. Given the choice to tone more or try a song, I elected to tone, so we then did some chakra toning, which felt great. Then she had me tone into an area in my body which needed some energy, which I did and then just lay there, “in”. A wave of pure bliss came out of nowhere, and I just lay there, very still, very “in”. Yum! I was amazed how good I felt, and when I left soon after, I was in a very easy relaxed space, feeling much better about my voice. And the role listening plays.
