Rebalancing

The practitioner theoretically does Rebalancing, a deep bodywork that realigns the musculo-skeletal system. However, after years of working on thousands of bodies she has made her own out of the various disciplines she has learnt. The practitioner checked my body out while I told her about my shoulders having a love affair with my ears, to see where she should work. Then up onto the table. After loosening up my whole body with some shaking, she worked on my back and shoulders, using a lot of tricks that were new, surprising me. She uses lots of shaking, loosening, vibration as well as some deeper strokes, which I really like.

She is very good at what she does, and soon I was very relaxed, simply here enjoying the touch, the body letting go, thoughts fading away. Like most bodyworkers who have been doing it for a long time, she has no desire to change or “fix” everything in one session, with no push, simply being relaxed, there with me and my body, doing her thing. No pressure to do or feel anything, just enjoy.

After what felt like ages I rolled over, and again she surprised me with some techniques I hadn’t experienced before, particularly with the neck and shoulder situation. She worked a little on my feet and legs, keeping her emphasis on my upper body where all the hours of sitting at my computer sat like a band that just needed a little uncoiling. And then, once my neck and shoulders were happy, and they were very happy, she lightly balanced my body, and left.

I just love the space of lying on the table after a session, so quiet, so still, present and relaxed. The pleasure of the session was one thing, the space it put me in was another. Yum. I find it hard to get off the table sometimes and this was no exception. When I got up, relaxed and easy, I was surprised to see it had only been an hour and a half. Felt like much longer.
